There is no better way of advancing your career prospects than having the opportunity to gain a variety of work experiences. PTFS has devised its graduate programme with this in mind and provides department placements averaging 3 month durations.
The placements enable our graduates to not only progress their day to day working skills, but provides them with invaluable knowledge about the company operations by being at the grass-roots of the business.
Every new graduate is appointed a mentor who will assist them with their on-going personal development throughout the programme. The mentor is also somebody to go to for help and support if needed. The mentoring programme encourages graduates to assess their own strengths and weaknesses, then from this build objectives aimed at improving skills, knowledge and competencies. Reflective learning is also encouraged so that individuals assess their achievements and ascertain how they can improve in the future.
Project Work
PTFS has seen that new graduates can bring a wealth of fresh ideas to the business. It is for this reason that the business will ensure that graduates are provided with at least one business project during the course of their programme.
A project will provide a graduate with the opportunity of developing more advanced soft skills such as time-management, presentation, and team working. Project work can often give a graduate the chance to highlight their strengths to their peers and managers.
The graduates of 2008/09 have been working on a project to completely re-develop and re-structure the company’s intranet site. The objective of the project was to ensure that the company had a site that had relevant information for employees that was regularly kept up to date. The graduates have been responsible for not only creating the contents for the site, but also the branding and design.
Industry Qualifications and Study Groups
The business will provide as much support as possible to graduates to assist them achieving industry qualifications, whether this through organised study groups with fellow employees or through one to one assistance with a mentor.
